With summer upon us in Myrtle Beach, we’re looking ahead to one of our favorite times of celebration in the area, the 4th of July! The Grand Strand truly comes alive for Independence Day, and it proves to be one of the most festive and exciting times of the year. With an abundance of amazing fireworks displays, summer festivals and parades, sporting events and more, it’s no surprise that guests flock to our area on July 4th. We want to highlight some of the July 4th events we’re most looking forward to, so you can have the most fun holiday when visiting us!
One of the pre-eminent spots in Myrtle Beach for celebrating the holiday and taking in wonderful fireworks is Broadway at the Beach. July 4th features their famous Fireworks Extravaganza, bring guests and locals from all over for live entertainment, delicious food and more, all culminating in one of the best displays in the area. And one of our favorite parts? They keep the party going past July 4th! On select days for the rest of the year, you can catch another fireworks show, so you’ll never miss out on their wonderful celebrations. View their schedule here.
Another chance to view vibrant fireworks throughout the summer, with a special emphasis on July 4th are at the always fun Myrtle Beach Pelicans games, the Grand Strand’s own baseball team. Stick around through the game and be treated to some of the best fireworks in the area!
A short drive away to Surfside Beach on July 2nd is a celebratory event you won’t want to miss: the 4th of July Golf Cart Parade! Watch from Ocean Boulevard as the elaborately designed golf carts drive by, or decorate your own and join in on the fun!
And of course, no July 4th on the Grand Strand is complete without one of the biggest highlights of the holiday: Salute to the Shore! Military aircraft will take off from Cherry Grove and do a fly-over of the coast, all the way to Hilton Head, providing an incredible patriotic shows for all guests on the beach. There’s no better way to honor our armed forces on our Independence Day than with Salute to the Shore!
Looking for a parade with a unique coastal twist? Take a trip to nearby Murrells Inlet for the Murrells Inlet Boat Parade on the morning of the 4th! The 39th Annual Murrells Inlet boat parade will begin at 11 AM, and the entry fee has been waived, so don’t miss out. Festively decorated boats will cruise through the inlet for all to see, all set against the backdrop of beautiful Murrells Inlet and the Marshwalk, with live music, food and drinks, and more. Plan to stay through the evening to witness the Grand Strand’s largest aerial fireworks show, the Annual Fourth of July Fireworks on the MarshWalk.
